It seems one federal inmate in Oklahoma has way too much time on his hands – and a whole lot of trouble.
A federal grand jury has charged 41-year old Lloyd Alan Cooper with conveying a false hoax threat to the Comanche County District Attorney’s Office and with mailing a threatening communication. Cooper is a Lawton, Oklahoma native.
According to the indictment, on November 16, 2010, Cooper mailed a letter to the Comanche County District Attorney’s Office, addressed to the Comanche County District Attorney, which contained a white powder and a note written in red pen stating “GOD SAVE US.†The indictment further alleges that Cooper mailed the letter from the Geo Lawton Correctional Facility in Lawton, Oklahoma with the intent to convey a threat.
If convicted, Cooper faces up to five years in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised probation following release.
These charges came about as a result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lawton Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andre’ Caldwell.
