My time working with Turning Point Action was more than just campaign work it was a spiritual and emotional journey I’ll never forget. Every single day, we began with prayer. Before a single door was knocked or phone call was made, we grounded ourselves in faith. That intentional moment reminded us that the work we were doing wasn’t just about politics it was a calling. God’s work. Bigger than us.
In the midst of powerful teamwork, we also had the opportunity to truly engage with the local community. We weren’t just visitors—we became part of something. We listened to neighbors, had real conversations, shared smiles, and built connections. Though I came from out of town, I felt like I became a part of Wisconsin for a brief, meaningful moment. Together, we formed a coalition to bring about change.
On the final day, I found myself holding back happy tears. I saw so many of the neighbors I had spoken to throughout the week showing up—people I had poured into with my words, my prayers, my energy. And to know even one person was moved to action because of that was incredible. I’m sure there were many others I didn’t see who felt the call and responded because of our efforts. Just seeing someone smile and wave, or getting a call or text that said, “I ALREADY DID, THANK YOU #TeamSchimel,” made my entire trip worth it.
Even though the results didn’t go our way, we left knowing something unshakable: this work is part of something divine. This is God’s work. And His work doesn’t end with one outcome. It’s ongoing. It’s about grit, endurance, sweat, and heart—what we each bring as individuals and what we build as a collective.
The kind, compassionate, and hardworking people at Turning Point Action, along with those of us who came in from out of state—both volunteers and those paid to work—played a pivotal role. Together, we offered a glimpse of what America can be: a more unified, faith-led nation, guided by love, integrity, and a belief that we are stronger together under leadership that cares for all.
