THE MILLS CONNECTION SHOW WITH CARLA MILLS-TATUM…”YOU’VE JUST BEEN CONNECTED”!

If you’ve ever met this talented, beautiful, successful young lady you already know she has “The Gift Of GAB”!

Friends and family know the “real” Carla is very much like the Carla you see on the Mills Connection Show -charming, outgoing, and thoughtful, but also opinionated, passionate, and talkative. Originally from Philadelphia, Carla moved to Atlanta to attend Clark Atlanta University and has been a force in the community ever since. After gaining real-life experience in the business world and as a wife and mother, Carla was encouraged by friends and family to use her “gift of gab” to serve the community. Around this time, Carla was booked as a guest on a local talk show and was soon asked to take over as host. Recognizing that this was her calling in life, Carla decided to create her own show that would be dedicated to inspiring people to live better lives.
Through hard work and determination, The Mills Connection Show was born.

Carla and Rev. Al Sharpton

There’s know telling who might stop by her show. And even more so, there’s no telling where you may spot here throughout ATL looking for her next guest. The Mills Connection Show covers any topic that pertains to the development of communities. Whether it’s personal sexuality choices, gold digging women, sharing legal advice, or covering healthy ways to eat and take care of your body. Carla has your show.

Carla and Sherri from The View

The Heat Magazine was fortunate to attend a taping of the show and really enjoyed the guests, the participation from the audience, and the information received. Carla Mills-Tatum has proven to herself and the world that if you have a dream, it’s only up to you to make it come true.

The Heat: So Carla Mills-Tatum, what’s really going on?
Mills: I’m feeling good.  Things are good.
The Heat: How has it been out here being an independent producer and t.v. show host?
Mills: In all honesty it’s been kind of hard.  The biggest thing I’m fighting for is unity.  I really do believe that as black people we really need to learn to help one another.  I deal with so many celebrities all the time.  You let people know what it is you’re doing and they hear your story and are very happy for you but it’s hard to get sponsorships.  That’s kind of where I am. But it’s okay because the purpose of my show is to educate, empower, and enlighten so my goal is to put things out there to kind of teach people to know better. You know the saying, “if you know better, you do better”.  I think with a lot of people they really don’t know.
The Heat: What would make your life more simpler at this point to take your show to the next level?
Mills: Donations and sponsorships.  But in all honestly I’m not depending on people.  I know I’m doing what I’m suppose to do in life.  I’m really not depending on or not waiting on anything.  I know that it’s only a matter of time before I take that four o’clock Oprah spot. It’s like when you know, you know you’re doing the right thing you just keep on doing it and things will work themselves out.
The Heat: I must say you are definitely doing the right thing.  Where can our readers come to support The Mills Connection Show?
Mills: People TV studios, 190 14th Street, here in Atlanta, GA 30318.  The show is tapped at 7PM sharp and we ask that the studio audience to be in their seats no later than 6:45PM.
The Heat: Is The Mills Connection Show televised?
Mills: Yes it is. It’s on People TV, channel 24, Wednesday nights at 8PM. You can also watch it online at www.peopletv.org
The Heat: When’s your next show and what’s the topic your guest(s) will be discussing?
Mills: We’re going to talk about Troy Davis.  I’m doing two thirty minute shoes on October 22nd.  I know everybody’s been talking about getting all the facts but there’s still a lot of people that have a lot to say about how they’re feeling about the whole situation and The Mills Connection show wants to be able to let people voices be heard on the issue. The second show is going to be Dr. David Levine, Professor of Pediatrics at Morehouse School of Medicine. He’s done a whole lot in the Black community in the field of pediatrics. We’re gonna talk about what it is he does and how he’s made an impact on the Black community. Like I said Nik, there’s so many people that help us and we need to make the community aware of these people. Once again, we have to learn to help ourselves. And that’s pretty much the basis of what I’m trying to do. Even with our President, Barack Obama. My goal is to start helping people get out there and get behind him in this Presidential race. When Barack Obama took office he told everybody he can’t do it by himself. We have to get out there and become proactive and be the change. I look at the disrespect he’s received and so many things that are happening to Barack Obama but we have to also understand after all the President’s we’ve had, he’s done the most. If the people would just look at the facts on him taking people down, him bringing our troops home, and even with this new job bill, that’s a step in the right direction. The Republicans are against him of course, because he’s trying to make the rich people pay more taxes. Right now poor people pay more taxes than the rich, that’s crazy! Things are so crazy right now in this race for life. People like Tavis Smiley, Cornel West, and Herman Cain, I’m looking at all these Black people and all they have to say is negative stuff about Barack Obama. Whether we disagree with another person or not, because we’re all the same race we need to value that and respect each other in public. If you feel something about someone that’s negative. Discuss that in your house with your people, but don’t go on T.V. People have even began to talk about Tyler Perry in a negative aspect. If you don’t like his movies, ok, but respect that he’s a black man doing something. We have enough people tearing the Black community down. We should all be lifting one another up and respecting what another person is doing because you know why, they’re doing something. And they’re doing something in the way they know to uplift the community. I just want our race to start being happy for one another. Whatever Tyler Perry is doing, he’s staying in his own lane. If you don’t like the lane, then stay out of it.
The Heat: Well said my friend. Any last words you wanna share with your show followers and The Heat?
Mills: Learn to love one another. Learn to respect one another. Learn to Help each other. The most important thing is we’re only here for a minute so do something, help someone else and remember that it’s not about you!
Millls: I just want to thank The Heat Magazine for allowing me this opportunity to be heard and to share with your readers The Mills Connection Show….”You’ve Just Been Connected”…Thanks Nik

  2. Carla Mills-Tatum a sister on the move, you keep doing what you do! As black people we some times put each other down and that’s not good, there was a time when we cared for and helped each other, let’s go back too that time.
I don’t always agree with our President on somethings, but let’s be clear I would never disrespect him in any way. “Black People Stop It”! We are better than that.

  6. Carla,

Enjoyed reading your article and especially your interview on Why Women Hate Each Other. Thank you for opening up that discussion. I think healing can take place when we’re transparent about first of all, who we are, where are, and where we came from. Everything that we’ve ever experienced from childhood up is a sum total of who we are today! Thank you for being an inspiration to sooooooooo many people and for passionately pursuing your dream to CONNECT!

  7. I truly enjoy the article. Carla is a whirlwind picking up speed and if you dare stand in her way you will be blown away. She has a heart so big it cannot possibly be measured. Where most people sidestep issues that needs to be addressed, Carla is more than willing to open a dialogue in the hopes that people will stop sticking their heads in the proverbial sand, listen, open their hearts and mind, and try to do the right thing and help where help is needed. Because, after all, isn’t that what we are all on this Earth for, to help one another when needed? She is truly an inspiration to us all. Carla’s destiny is to educate and empower everyone she meets everyday of her life. She is truly an amazing woman. Thank you Carla for doing what you do! God Bless!

  8. I’ve known Carla Mills-Tatum for many years, and she has always shown a sincere interest in making the community and world a better place. l She keeps people informed about what is really being talked about, but not addressed publicly. I love the article you did on her and The Mills Connection because her stage is a stage that many want to see, as well as support. We need more shows on a national level like The Mills Connection so that the average person (of all races and genders), as well as celebrities, can voice their concerns, and at the same time, look for resolutions. My hope is that one day the right person will finally see how dynamic she is, and offer her a wider audience via national exposure. Carla, we will continue supporting you and your goals, and know that your bigger day is on it’s way. This is just one step to the top of the stairs of success.

  9. This is such a wonderful article that gives people a glimpse into Carla’s vision. Carla is extremely humble and genuinely cares about the issues that have greatly affected us all. She’s not afraid to tackle any issue and is very passionate about bringing about change. If there is any issue or injustice, her goal is not only to bring attention to it, but to try to find a solution to it. I encourage any one that doesn’t know Carla or has not visited a show, to please come to a show. I promise that you WILL walk away feeling “educated, empowered, and enlightened.” Through her faith and her talent, God is using Carla to do something great.

Keep up the excellent work Carla. God bless you!!

  10. Carla Mills-Tatum is such an inspiration to me. This sister has been tempowering, educating, and enlightening her audiences for some years now out of her own pocket. Carla is truly dedicated to helping people. Carla is willing to take risks showcasing so called Taboo topics and allowing her guests to voice their opinions honestly. The Mills Connection Show is definitely a show that you won’t want to miss!!! She’s ready for prime time, Oprah’s 4:00 PM slot.
