Mother Jailed For 25 Years For Allowing Her Daughter To Starve To Death While She Played An Online Video Game

A mother has been jailed for 25 years for allowing her daughter to starve to death while she played an online video game.

Rebecca Colleen Christie sat at her computer for hours at a time playing the fantasy role playing game ‘World of Warcraft’ as her three year old daughter Brandi slowly starved to death.

The toddler was so hungry that she ate cat litter and weighed just 23lbs when she was rushed to hospital clinging to life.

  1. You just can’t understand something like this. You just can’t understand how it could possibly happen. The idea of child protection should be there in every parent, a hard, fierce feeling that comes to the surface whenever you see that your child is in danger of getting hurt. How could anyone possibly be so indifferent to their child that they do not notice them starving?

And the truth is, I simply don’t know. Perhaps video game addiction is real, perhaps it is just an offensive term trotted out to excuse inexcusable actions. I don’t know, I’m not a medical professional. But I’m not going to blame the game. Instability is instability and if not the game, then it would have surfaced in another way.
