There is always a precocious child somewhere in the crowd. Some stand out more than others and in the case of Mariya Lanae Wright, she clearly shines like the star she is destined to be one day very, very soon.
At only 5 years old, Mariya is already eons ahead of most. To say she entertains, would be a definite understatement. There is just something about her and it will not be long before her face is seen all over the entertainment world.
Mariya is already well known for being a multi-talented model/actress. The Little Rock, Arkansas native has been modeling and doing pageants since she was only 2 year old. Mariya has already met quite a few celebrities and she has participated in major events.
Mariya has also been featured in major fashion shows, including “The Designers Choice Fashion Preview†hosted by fashion designer Korto Momulu and model Tyson Beckford. Mariya is even launching her own talk show entitled “The Wright Show†in July. She will be interviewing celebrities, kids who have made major accomplishments and others doing positive work in the community.
Real recognize real, as they say, and in that same fashion, Mariya has already been noticed by quite a few celebrities, most notably the well known entertainer, “Lil JJâ€. He won BET’s “Coming to the Stage†and catapulted to fame in several roles, including as star of Nickelodeon’s “Just Jordanâ€. He was introduced to “Mariya World†after a chance encounter with the young prodigy. According to Lil JJ, he’s been a fan ever since.
Lil JJ tells The Heat, “She’s got a gift.†He goes on to reiterate that, “It’s Mariya’s World.†He should know – he works with Mariya’s mother’s Izsomie, Inc. and has has spent countless hours working with the child to familiarize her with the entertainment industry and to help her finely hone her craft.
Mariya already has an impressive resume that includes the following:
- Captured title of Little Miss Valentine in the Sweethearts Pageant
- Rocked the runway in Little Rock Fashion Week with MTV’s Sway
- Ripped the runway in the 1st Annual Urban Fashion Show hosted by BET Casting Director Terrance Clayton
- Appeared in Peazy Baby’s video, “On Fiyaâ€
- Modeled in The Designer’s Choice Fashion Preview hosted by Tyson Beckford & Korto Momolu
- Modeled in The Runway on the River by Brownsugar Entertainment
- Modeled in the 2nd Annual Extreme Barber & Hairshow
You can catch Mariya in the upcoming 1st Annual Izsomie Fashion & Talent Showcase in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 21, 2011. Izsomie, Inc. is presenting the show at 6 p.m. at the Robinson Center, Exhibition Hall. The show will be hosted by Lil JJ, and will be co-hosted by Peazy Baby, DJ for Hip Hop rising star Wiz Khalifa’s “Waken Baken†tour. Other guests set to appear will be Power 92’s own Idris “The Skirt With The Dirt†Turner and DJ Mike Blaze. THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What do you want the world to know about you?
MARIYA: My name is Mariya Wright. I’m 5 years old and I like to model.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: We saw some of your photos taken while you were modeling. Is that something that is easy for you to do?
MARIYA: It’s easy. I love to take pictures!
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What else are you looking to do in the future – maybe make movies?
MARIYA: I would love to! When I grow up, I want to be an actress.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What’s your favorite type of clothing?
MARIYA: Dresses (and her mother adds that Mariya is a “girly-girl†down to her frilly socks she dresses herself in each day) and my Hannah Montana shirt (laughs).
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Who’s your favorite TV star?
MARIYA: Lil JJ! And I love iCarly and the Jonas Brothers.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: The Jonas Brothers? Which one of your favorite?
MARIYA: All of them!
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Who’s your favorite music artist?
MARIYA: Justin Bieber! I love his movie – and I love Michael Jackson!

MARIYA: Pre-K. I’ll be in kindergarten next year.

MARIYA: Funny (laughs).

MARIYA: Through my cousin – they’re friends.
