The Heat Magazine Welcomes Yolanda Brown, The Social Worker Who Needs A Social Worker

The Social Worker Who Needs A Social Worker

Yolanda is a married mother with 4 favoured children. She obtained a bachelors degree in Social Work from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida in 2001 and in 2005, she obtained a masters degree in Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans.

As a Social Worker working in the community with children and families of various backgrounds, Yolanda understood a deeper need for community involvement aside from her profession. In August of 2009, Yolanda developed Ladies Exemplifying Greatness Community Outreach Organization which is comprised of women of various backgrounds who have made the decision to come together and give back to the community by way of service, support, and partnerships. Her organization received an award for Outstanding Community Service throughout the River Parishes in Louisiana.

In 2010, Yolanda received the Women of Excellence Award and in 2011, she was a 94.9 Black History Month Honoree, not to mention receiving the Presidents Award in Atlanta, Georgia.

Yolanda has tackled many obstacles and has faced adversity in various fashions. She believes that every experience, although it may not be of just cause, is a learning experience. As a result of being an overcomer, she decided to share some of her experiences and the way she she dealt with them.  She turned a negative into a positive and is now owning the phrase “A Social Worker Who Needs A Social Worker!”

Yolanda is a firm believer that everyone is destined for Greatness. The key is to tap into your own (Greatness) at your appointed time!

And if there is one thing that you can be, that one thing is to….BE GREAT!

Welcome, Yolanda Brown – we know our readers will adore your socially pertinent contributions!
