Hip hop artist Wyclef Jean was reportedly shot in Haiti Saturday night.
His publicist has confirmed that the artist was shot in the hand in the Delmas area of Port-Au-Prince, the nation’s capital.
Jean was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and luckily, the injury is being classified as “minor”.  He has been released.  His publicist was quoted as saying, “He was immediately taken to the hospital, treated for a minor graze to his hand and released.  He is fine.  Wyclef’s commitment to his native country and to his people is unparalleled. He is therefore undeterred by this incident.”
Jean considered a run for the Haitian presidential office late last summer, but was forced into hiding after receiving death threats. He decided not to make a run, but has been back in the spotlight campaigning for his friend, Michel “Sweet Mickey” Martelly.
