(WPVI) — Police checking on the whereabouts of woman whose family became concerned about her, found her dead in the trunk of a car in Burlington County, N.J.

Investigators discovered the body overnight in the trunk of a white sedan outside a Quality Inn hotel on Route 38 in Maple Shade.

The investigation began late Sunday night when the victim’s family members called police and said they were concerned about her safety.

Police were able to trace the location of the car to Maple Shade through an On-Star tracking system.

Investigators were questioning the owner of that car. Action News is told that person knew the victim.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name or age.

Police sources tell Action News the investigation also involves a home in the Olney section of Philadelphia.

The Action Cam was outside that home as police interviewed several people there.

Investigators served a warrant at the home, hoping to find evidence that could help them in the investigation.

So far no one has been charged in this case.
