Just when we thought we’d seen it all, a woman prepares to marry a building. You heard right – a building.
A Seattle woman is preparing for the upcoming Sunday wedding where she will marry a 107 year old warehouse in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Babylonia Aivaz is calling the upcoming ceremony a “gay marriage.”
Aivaz says she fell head over heels after joining an Occupy Seattle protest inside the building last month. “I’m doing it to show the building how much I love it,” says Aivaz, “how much I love community space and how much I love this neighborhood, and I want to stop it from gentrification.”
As always, there’s trouble brewing for the happy couple. Demolition crews have begun to dismantle the building to make way for a mixed use apartment building.
Aivaz says she’s going ahead with her wedding plans, despite the demolition. The happy couple is registered at Home Depot, Lowe’s and of course, Wal-Mart (kidding).
