The Wall Street Journal online (WSJ) is reporting that Nicki Minaj and The Roots played a special show at the Best Buy Theater in New York City this week to launch the Casio Tryx, a new camera aimed at younger consumers.
Nikki Minaj posed for pictures outside the venue with a busload of fans from a Minaj lookalike contest, and at a press conference later in the day, she showed off a pink autographed version of the Tryx which she said would be auctioned off to support the American Red Cross‘ relief efforts in earthquake and tsunami damaged parts of Japan.
Before the show, ?uestlove reportedly indicated that The Roots is working on a new album and that they are “three or four songs†into the new project. He went on to say that The Roots is interested in making music that reflects their age. “We’re people too, we’re hip hop fans as well. As long as we stick to subjects that are relevant and universal we shouldn’t have any problems.â€
The Heat Magazine salutes The Roots and hopes to see a lot more music from them in the coming decades. They are truly multi-talented and are sure to be around for a long time to come.
