Personality, wit and beauty is a dangerous combination. Meet SoFree Wisdom – a singer from North Carolina.
With a strong voice and a definite stage presence, SoFree is poised to become the next big thing in East Coast music.
We recently had an opportunity to speak with SoFree Wisdom and here’s what she had to say:
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Tell us about yourself.
SO FREE WISDOM: My name is SoFree Wisdom. I was born in Germany and raised in Cary, North Carolina. I’ve been in Raleigh, North Carolina for five years. I started writing poetry and short songs at age 8. I’ve been singing since I could make a sound, however I didn’t start making my own music until 2010.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: How does your region affect your music?
SO FREE WISDOM: I don’t think my region affects my music. I just make music that’s heartfelt and based on true events. I don’t try to appeal to just one region, so I don’t make music solely based on what people prefer here in the South.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Who were your musical influences?
SO FREE WISDOM: My musical influences? There are so many! Well, my mom for one – I have many memories of her singing around the house growing up. Alicia Keys is definitely a big one. Usher, Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Etta James, Adele, Al Green, and Amy Winehouse – God rest her soul. I really could go on forever.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What projects are you currently working on?
SO FREE WISDOM: Right now I am doing some behind the scenes work – radio show intros and industry references things like that. My intro song produced by TracStar (my engineer) will be playing every weekday at 10 a.m. in Texas on Magic 103.9 for The Calvin Devoe Midday Show. I just debuted in an independent film called 30 to 35. I played myself. I got some radio play here in Raleigh on K 97.5. I’m still doing shows and writing and recording.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What else can we expect from So Free?
SO FREE WISDOM: Everyone can expect more music from me, of course. I am tackling many different genres and styles of music. I will be working with a few artists from my area like LumiNaughty, Madison Jay, Blackstorm, and many more. I plan on doing more shows in other cities and spreading my music throughout the world.
