Reggae Artist & Lover Gunned Down By Ex-Boyfriend

50-year-old Wayne Hamilton a.k.a. “Captain Barkey” and his girlfriend 38-year-old Tracy Bennett were gunned down in cold blood this past Saturday night, October 13th, leading into Sunday morning. The suspect in question is her crazed ex-boyfriend, 42-year-old Joseph Kernizan. Hamilton and Bennett were staying in a room at the Holiday Motel in the Bronx, when around 3:10am they left the room to hop in Tracy’s white Toyota Camry. They left their luggage in the room so they were probably just going to get food or something.

Suddenly, the gunman darted out of the shadowy night and opened fired on them. Hamilton quickly jumped out of the passenger seat and tried to flee for his life but the wave of bullets brought him down right outside of the motel office. The assailant then turned his attention to Ms. Bennett as he raised his gun to her and she begged for her life. However, her cries for mercy were not enough to warm the killer’s heart as he let off two shots which dropped her, and took her life.

A guest at the motel, Ricky Gugliotta, was partying in a room on the second floor celebrating a friend’s birthday, when he heard the shots go off.

“I looked out my window and saw a lady standing there. She was begging him not to shoot her, but then he shot her twice and she went down.”

Another witness, 38-year-old Damone Jackson said that he saw the killer jumping around the parking lot nervously prior to the shooting occurred.

“I saw the guy running around. He was dancing all over the place. Then, I heard the shots. It sounded like about 30 shots. It was like two clips worth.”

Ms. Bennett had an active restraining order set against her ex-boyfriend from his past obsessive behavior. The killer was described only as being a bald man, and seen speeding away from the crime scene in a blue Honda Sedan. He is still at large.
