PROLIFIC NEW TALENT: Arkansas’ own, Justin Paul

Young, energetic and soon to have a worldwide influence, Justin Paul is a prolific talent whose music speaks of life and its everyday occurrences.

Justin Paul’s music has something for everyone and his musical gifts allow him to convey his message to a broad audience.

Born in Missouri and raised in Arkansas, Justin Paul has a unique view on the world that he speaks of through his music. We caught up with Justin and here’s what he had to say:

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Tell our readers about yourself.

JUSTIN PAUL: I was born in St Louis, Missouri and raised in Arkansas where I currently reside. I started singing and playing at the age of 5. My love for music in all of its forms has been with me seems like since birth.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Growing up, who were your musical influences?

JUSTIN PAUL: Some of my musical influences are Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Marvin Wynans, Deitrich Haddon, Joe, Drake, Wayne, Jay Z, Chris Brown, Omarion, Smokie Norful, Brandy, and Beyonce’.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Tell us about your journey into music.

JUSTIN PAUL: I chose this genre because of its realism and truth about life and situations. Everybody’s been in love. Everybody has had their heart broken. Most everybody knows what it’s like to want somebody and to be wanted, but very few are able to express these common feelings through music and song. I feel fortunate to be among the ones given this ability. I look at it as a gift that I did not ask for, and so I share it with others from a place of real love and appreciation of both the ability and the art.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What’s in the works for you, as far as future projects?

JUSTIN PAUL: I am currently working on features for a few artists/producers in Arkansas, namely Kwestion, Blaze (Bully Gang), G Sizz, Piph, and GoinEz. I’m also working on a new single for my next project, which is entitled “In My Feelings”.  It’s about being without someone really important to you, and the effect that it has on your ability to go out, or to carry on with the day.  This topic hits home for some, and is yet relatable to others.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: If you could eat dinner with anyone famous, who would that be and why?

JUSTIN PAUL: I’d eat dinner with Lauren Hill and Paul Simon.  Both are such organic artists, who write/play/sing just as myself.  I’d like to level with each of them about their individual inspirations. Each has an organic feel for music as well as a surreal disposition on the story of love.  I enjoy each artist’s music beyond explanation, and I’d like to tell and thank them both.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Justin Paul is a very talented young artist whom we are destined to see much more in the future. Stay on the lookout for his upcoming projects and make sure to check out his album: http://justinpaul1.bandcamp.com/album/january-18th

Justin will also be performing at Miami Fashion Week. That’s a performance you definitely do not want to miss!
