BRYANT, AR — A take out order, gone wrong. Two customers are furious about a food order they received from a popular pizza chain in Bryant.
When it comes to pizza, Samonte Wallace and Bryan Reed like to eat at the Pizza Hut in Bryant. However, that was up until this past Sunday when they say they found racial images and words written inside their to-go box.
“Speechless, like why would somebody do that? I just feel like it’s hatred,” says Wallace.
Under the lid, both found racial slurs and a drawing. The letters KKK and swastika are the first images Wallace and Reed found inside their order of pizza. They say it came from a Pizza Hut in Bryant.
“It just shows that racism is still alive and hatred towards us for no reason,” says Reed.
The young men told us we could use their names but not show their faces. Wallace and Reed said they started eating the pizza in the car, but it wasn’t until later they discovered the images and another racial slur written underneath the pizza. This was the second order they placed on Sunday.
“Fine. Nothing, nothing on it, perfect. And the next thing you know we come back and it’s like this,” says Wallace.
We reached out to Pizza Hut Corporate Headquarters who released the following statement:
“The actions of the employees involved are inexcusable and have resulted in their termination. We have a zero tolerance policy for this type of behavior and regularly train our employees to treat everyone fairly, equally and with respect. As soon as the local franchise owner found out about this he contacted the customer and apologized. We extend that sincere apology to everyone who was offended by this ignorant act. Obviously not a true reflection of the company or the local franchisee who acted very swiftly in responding.”
