LaTasha Randle and her son, James Scott, have become a testament to resilience and determination, often referring to themselves as “the comeback kids.” Their journey, marked by perseverance, culminated in a shared celebration this May as they both graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) with Bachelor of Science degrees, according to a recent news release.
“If you’ve got tomorrow, you’ve got another chance,” Randle said, highlighting the optimistic spirit that fueled their academic pursuit.
Randle and Scott’s path to graduation was significantly influenced by the supportive environment at UAPB. “UAPB was definitely the right place not just for me, but for James because it’s so community-based. UAPB was the way for us to go,” Randle emphasized.
Randle’s educational journey began in the 1990s at UAPB. She initially started college in 1994 and was on track to graduate in 1999 but had to take a break for a year. Twenty-five years later, she seized the opportunity to complete her degree alongside her son, demonstrating that it is never too late to achieve one’s goals.
The duo’s story of resilience and achievement serves as an inspiration, showcasing the power of perseverance and the supportive role of the UAPB community in helping them realize their dreams.
