One potato, two potato …. Wow! That is probably what the Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies were saying to themselves this past week when they showed up on the scene of a fight between a mother and daughter in Port Clinton.
Deputies were called to a home on Thursday morning for the domestic disturbance that reportedly occurred when the duo began fighting over who was going to cook a potato and how.
The mother reported to the deputies that after they began squabbling, the daughter spit in her face and punched her in the arm, causing what authorities describe as two “superficial” scratch marks. She was treated at the scene by EMTs.
The daughter’s version of the story is slightly more humorous. She claims her mother threatened her with a 9-inch scrub brush and that she had no choice but to grab her arm to avoid being struck. A male relative in the home confirmed that the mother “held the brush in a threatening manner,” according to the police report.
The relative also reported that the women continued to argue after the fight, so he went to bed. Neither woman was charged in the incident.
Wow! This story is scary on all levels. This family may benefit from counseling in the areas of effective communication skills, anger management, and decision making skills. I wish them well!
