A 46-year-old man was arrested twice in the same night for drunk driving.
Elvy was stopped by state troopers in his 1999 Cadillac Escalade in upstate New York at 1.30am on Tuesday for failing to dim his high beams.
Police say he had a blood alcohol content of 0.14, the legal limit is 0.08. They released him to a sober passenger of the car who said she would take him home.
But it appears Wilbert A. Elvy may have been so drunk the first time he was stopped that he forgot and decided to start driving again.
Two hours later, the same state troopers noticed the same SUV weaving and crossing the street’s centreline.
The police stopped the vehicle and discovered Elvy behind the wheel again. He was this time arrested and was later posted on $250 bail and taken home by his girlfriend.
