A man tried to rape a mother while she was pushing her son in his stroller because he was afraid of the rapture, according to police.
Ray Allen Martin, 28, from Daytona, Florida, is being held without bail in the Volusia County Branch Jail and faces charges of attempted sexual battery and kidnapping.
The victim, who is also 28, told police she was walking east on the south side of the bridge about 10:45am on Monday when she saw a man walking west on the opposite side of the bridge.
According to The Palm beach Post News, she told police the man crossed the bridge and began following her.
When he continued to follow her, she called her fiancé and told him she was worried and exactly where she was with their four-year-old son.
Martin then allegedly placed his hands over her mouth and began dragging her toward the breezeway of a building.
According to the victim, he then pulled her pants and underwear down and kept telling her to ‘shut up’.
She said ‘no’ and yelled for her child.
A man walking in the area intervened and Martin fled but was apprehended a short distance away on Harvey Street.
