Sylvie Johnson, a cousin of Rev Pinckney, told Daily Mail Online in an exclusive interview that the reverend’s wife Jennifer was in the church during the shooting. Mrs Pinckney was rescued by police.
The full graphic story of the Charleston church massacre was revealed today as it emerged that two children survived the carnage unleashed by gunman Dylann Roof.
Daily Mail Online can disclose that the six-year-old daughter of murdered preacher Rev Clementa Pinckney and his wife Jennifer eluded the bullets by hiding under a desk in an office and calling 911.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail Online, Sylvie Johnson, a cousin of Rev Pinckney, revealed that Mrs Pinckney, who had left the Bible class minutes before, heard the rapid gunfire and people screaming for their lives as another woman Felicia Sanders and her five-year-old granddaughter played dead as the shooter went berserk.
Mrs Sanders saw her son Tywanza, 26, gunned down as he pleaded with the gunman to end the carnage and she lay motionless in a pool of her son’s blood as he fell next to her.
