Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach speculated three weeks ago that Floyd could be fighting the left handed Ortiz as a tune up fight for Paquiao, who is also a southpaw.
“Of course, that’s the first thing that came to my mind,” Roach told the Associated Press. “Some left-handers have given him trouble. Judah gave him trouble but couldn’t maintain the pace. Guys like Victor Ortiz, Manny Pacquiao, they can maintain that pace. And I do think the southpaw stance gives him trouble.”
If Pacquiao gets past his November 12 bout with Juan Manuel Marquez, and Floyd Beats Ortiz on September 17, that should set up one of the biggest fights in boxing history.
