NAPOLEONVILLE, LA (WAFB) – Authorities arrested 16 suspected drug dealers as part of a roundup dubbed Operation “Should Have Got a Real Job.”
The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said narcotics agents targeted people considered street and mid-level dealers who had been indicted for distribution of controlled dangerous substances.
Sheriff Mike Waguespack said the agents started executing warrants in Napoleonville early Wednesday morning.
He added this 8-month investigation was the follow-up to an investigation and roundup in January 2011 called “Operation Get a Real Job.”
The agents went undercover to buy prescription pills, crack cocaine and marijuana throughout the parish.
The pharmaceutical drugs named were Lortabs, Oxycodone, Lorcet and Morphine.
Waguespack singled out one of the suspects picked up during the roundup.
He said Ronald Johnson, 25, of Napoleonville was found with what appeared to be 470 grams of hydroponic marijuana, a small amount of crack and a scale.
He was originally wanted for distribution of crack cocaine.
Waguespack added Jamaal Daggs, 29, also of Napoleonville was with Johnson at the time.
He was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine. (Note: His picture was not provided)
All of the people taken into custody during the roundup were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Three people are still wanted by authorities.
The team that rounded up the suspects was made up of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force, Louisiana State Police, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and Morgan City Police Department.
