Jailbreaks are supposed to involve climbing over the wire at the very least.
But when convicted murderer Trent Archie decided to escape from Walker County Jail in Texas, he decided to take a more direct route – and fight his way straight through the front door.
Dramatic footage captured the moment the 29-year-old – along with fellow inmate Davis McLeskey – viciously attacked four correction officers to escape through the prison’s booking office.
Archie managed to get out, running through the office door and then over a fence, but McLeskey, 23, was restrained and taken back to his cell.
The violent escape happened in the early hours of the morning, when the pair asked prison officers for permission to use the phones in the corridor near the booking office.
Archie, who is serving 40 years for murder, had claimed it was better for him to contact his mother early, as she left home before dawn to deliver newspapers.
The video shows the pair talking on the phones outside the booking office for about 20 minutes, although police claim McLeskey wasn’t speaking to anybody at all.
