A new Mother’s Day report gives Arkansas a “D-“ when it comes to providing paid family and medical leave and workplace support to new parents. The National Partnership for Women and Families looked at state laws and regulations
While women make up 48 percent of the workforce in Arkansas the report called “Expecting Better: A State-by-State Analysis of Laws That Help New Parents” says many have no choice but to sacrifice much needed income or their jobs when a new baby arrives causing them to risk their economic security and their health.
The organization behind the report says it’s critical for lawmakers to take action to protect parents so they can keep their jobs and care for their families when babies come.
