I was simply perusing the internet when I happened upon a viral thread that almost sent me in! The video I am referring to shows two women whom I now know are sisters singing and praising God as one is styling the hair of the woman recording. I’ve come to find that the spontaneous praise was in celebration of a birthday and praise is just what they do, and do it well.
It is written to lift every voice and make a joyful noise unto the Lord… well these sisters have taken that and made quite a stir on social media. Sisters, Ashleey and Chelsey Barnes have been singing since the ages of 4 and 6 and they don’t have any desire to venture outside of the sacred content into the secular world either. Ashleey, a cosmetologist and Chelsey an assistant teacher in their hometown of Grenada, Mississippi are both members of the choir where Chelsey is also ministry leader. Their home church Mt. Olive Pentecostal Holiness sounds just like the right pace to hone in on the gifting of God and use them to Glorify His name.

These young women have a sweet spirit about themselves and their mother, Pauline Mays stated to me, ” I saw the gift the God planted in them… it was raw and I kept them in church.” Chelsey says, ” I will stick with what I know” and Ashleey says, ” I have a heart for gospel!” They both have favorites in the gospel industry that includes The Clark Sisters, Leandria Johnson, and Kiera Sheard. But if you ask me, I’m sure they could hold their own next to any considered powerhouses.
As I chatted with these young ladies I was thankful that they are very family oriented, head strong in the word, familiar with their talents and humble about it all. And as for the young woman getting her hair done in that video,cousin Amber Johnson, thank you for sharing the anointing which has gone viral!!!
