Bronx native Mark Howard James, better known under the monikers “The 45 King” or “DJ Mark the 45 King”, has passed away. Social media has seen tributes pouring in from greats such as legendary entertainer DJ Premier and many more.
The 62 year old DJ and producer worked with many Hip Hop legends over the course of his career. Those included Queen Latifa’s Flava Unit and countless others. He produced the worls famous breakbeat entitled “The 900 Number”. The 45 King rose to prominence for using obscure beats produced from 45s. He also did extensive work on 1989’s “All Hail the Queen”, Queen Latifah’s first release on Tommy Boy Records.
Prayers and positive vibes go out to The 45 King’s family, friends and fans. In an overcrowded land, he was truly unique.
