MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A 93-year-old Florida man, Helmut Lockner, has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree premeditated murder after reportedly admitting to deputies that he tried to kill his wife twice in the past two weeks. Lockner allegedly told authorities he acted out of concern that his wife would be alone after his death, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest report details two alleged incidents: one in which Lockner attempted to strangle his wife by placing a rope around her neck while she was watching television, and another two weeks earlier where he reportedly tried to suffocate her with a pillow as they lay together.
Lockner was taken into custody on Saturday and is currently held in the Marion County Jail. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to understand the full circumstances surrounding the case.
