Comedian Tracy Morgan is catching flack from relatives for failing to help his mother save her home from foreclosure.
Alicia Warden told the New York Daily News she owes less than $25,000 on her Ohio home, but her son who is worth $18 million dollars would only offer her a one time payment of $2000.
Warden says that Morgan initially agreed to pay off the home, then reneged after accusing her of granting the media an interview. A claim she denies.
Morgan’s younger sister, Asia Morgan, 41, confirms her mom’s dire financial problems which she attributes to her failing health. Asia said she was going to keep quiet about the situation, but it’s reached the point where she can no longer be silent.
“He’s never been a nice person,” says Asia of her famous brother. “And money’s just made it worse. My mom’s house isn’t extravagant, but it’s her home, Her health is failing. She has diabetes, and her legs are giving out on her. This would be a drop in the bucket for Tracy. She has a son that can do, and she’s done everything that she could possibly could for her family.”
Morgan’s mom lost her job in February 2011, and her unemployment benefits have run out. Her utilities are about to be cut off and she is also close to losing her car. She asked her son for help and got a call back from someone who worked for him.
“Tracy’s offering you a one-shot deal” of $2,000 she was told. Warden turned down the meager offer out of pride.
“I told her, ‘Thank you, but no thank you. I’m not some person in the street,” Warden says. “That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. God don’t like ugly. Karma comes back to you.”
There are obviously two side to every story. The New York Daily News reached out to Tracy for a response and didn’t get one.

Come Tracy, this is Mom. Give her the money. She gave you life. Do the right thing.
I think it is disgusting that Tracy Morgan’s family thinks the only way to get money out of him by going to the press. There are three sides to every story. Maybe there is a reason why he wont give her the money. If Tracy is as mean as his siters says why would you expect him to give up the money you should expect that he wouldn’t. Just because the media says he is worth 18 million doesn’t mean he has that money. I am not defending Tracy I just think it was wrong for his family to publish this. Have you tried other alternatives? Why would you wait until you owe so much money before trying to get help? What about reverse mortgage have you tried that. I can’t stand people who think they are entitled to get a piece of the pie when they have a relative who has money. Don’t get me wrong I think every child should help their parent if they can but this story shouldn’t have been published.
I think Stacie should mind her business. We know his Mother was there for him when he was young, his family knows him better than anyone. I would let them settle this the way it should be and Tracy should always respect his mother. I don’t know the answer but she is not along with the issues of money. This is happening all over the world and banks not helping. Families are not always in the position to help but if they can most time they won’t but that is up to them. I pray this will work out for this family and bring back the love I know they once had for one another.
I think that Tracy should help his mother. God gave him life, but chose his mother as the person to bring him into this world. Not all mother’s are perfect, but at the end of the day, she will always be his mother. We don’t know what they have gone through or what they are going through, but I pray that he will see things differently and help his mom.
