We left off in Part 1 of The Heat’s Exclusive with Al Basics, with him discussing his various music ventures and talents. We pick up in Part 2 with Al Basics discussing his live performances. Check it out:

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Tell us about your live performances.

AL BASICS: I like to perform with a band, but when I can’t, I rock out with Chris “Montsoon” Montgomery who’s the most skilled guitarist I have the pleasure of knowing and making music with. When I’m performing with my crew KAMERATA, I can sum up our performances in three words: “We Go Hard.” To me, performing is all about passion. You’re performing, not reciting. Come to a show, I love meeting new people.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: If you could select one producer to work with, who would that be?

AL BASICS: DJ Premier, without a doubt.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Working on any projects?

AL BASICS: I recently released a Spoken Word project titled “Thoughts In Progress”, an EP with my musical brother Pablo S. Cobars titled “Lyrical Contraband” and it’s completely produced by B3NBi. I’ve released a mixtape titled “The T.U.C. Mixtape” which stands for ‘Tucson Underground Cares.’ All the songs aren’t by me, I’ve collected close to 20 songs from artists in Tucson and will be selling it for $5, with all the proceeds going to charity.  In February, I’m also releasing an album with a real close friend of mine, Danger James, who’s from another Hip-Hop group called “The Natives Are Restless.” That project is entirely produced by Shag, and I’m excited for everyone to hear how a New Yorker and New Englander can get along through Hip-Hop. Lastly, I’m working on my sophomore album that should be out this Spring/Summer. The production is mostly done by my good friends, HanSolo of 3rd Phloor Productions and Chris Montsoon, also my live guitarist when I perform. I have some exciting guest collaborations on there that will be announced at a later time.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: How can people contact you or listen to your music?

AL BASICS: The two best ways to contact me is Facebook (www.facebook.com/albasics) and email al.basics@gmail.com . The best site to check out my music would have to be Bandcamp (www.albasics.bandcamp.com).

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Any shout outs?

AL BASICS: Shout outs to my crew KAMERATA (Talk-Sik, Pablo S. Cobars, B3NBi, Montsoon), The Natives Are Restless (Danger James, Habeas Corpus, Eral the Lorax), HanSolo, Pauly Styles, James Ciphurphace, Voicebox Battles, Grimey Republik, and everyone else who is supporting my crew and myself on this journey. Peace To Your Inner Beast!

EDITOR’S NOTE: Make sure to check out and support Al Basics’ music. It is quite impressive, along with his spoken word projects. He is truly a multi-talented artist, in every sense of the word.
