YouTube will challenge Apple’s worldwide supremacy in downloadable movie services by launching its own on-demand Hollywood film stream, it has been revealed.
The world’s largest video sharing site will begin streaming mainstream Hollywood movies as early as this week after having licenses granted by major studios including Sony, Warner Brothers and Universal.
The service, which is expected to be announced soon by YouTube, will provide a major challenge to Apple’s iTunes service, which is currently the most powerful and lucrative in paid video streaming.
