Fast-food giant Wendy’s has announced the closure of 140 underperforming restaurants in the coming months as part of a strategic shift to modernize its brand. While some outdated locations will shut down, Wendy’s plans to balance these closures by opening an equal number of new restaurants in other areas, maintaining its total number of locations.
This move follows an earlier announcement in May, in which Wendy’s revealed it would close 100 restaurants. The current closures are part of a broader restructuring aimed at enhancing the customer experience. The new locations will feature updated interiors, more efficient kitchen equipment, and drive-thru pick-up windows to meet evolving consumer demands.
In addition to the 140 new locations, the chain aims to open around 300 updated restaurants, reinforcing its presence while catering to the preferences of modern diners.
