Viral pop star Rebecca Black has been pulled out of school after being bullied by her classmates in the wake of becoming an internet celebrity. The 14-year-old singer will now be home schooled by her mother Georgina Marquez, which will give her space to avoid harassment from her peers and time to focus on her career in music.
“When I walk by they’ll start singing ‘Friday’ in a really nasally voice,” Black told Nightline. “Or, you know, they’ll be like, ‘Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?'” The singer has also received death threats and endured some intense embarrassment after a malicious rumor that she was pregnant ended up getting published on CNN.com.
