A telecom worker has been accused of trying to kill his wife after listening in on her talking to a mysterious man.

Robert Rutledge allegedly used a rope to strangle Jennifer Rutledge, causing her to pass out at their home in Lakeland, Florida.

When she regained consciousness, the Verizon worker is said to have throttled the 47-year-old again – but investigators say she was able to escape.

Rutledge, 51, who is a repair technician, is accused of disconnecting the line after hearing a conversation between his wife and an unknown man.
