Ubisoft Set to Break Records

With the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed III it is easy to see how popular the series has become just by the sheer numbers of pre-orders the game has received. AC3 has only been available for pre-order for three weeks and has already sold ten times the amount of pre-orders as Assassin’s Creed Revelations within the same time frame and is expected to match Revelation’s life-to-date pre-order numbers easily. Assassin’s Creed III is set for an October 30th release and is officially Ubisoft’s biggest game if the pre-order numbers have anything to say about it.

Short history on the Assassin’s Creed series:

-Assassin’s Creed-

Desmond Miles, a bartender by trade has been kidnapped by Abstergo industries and asked to relive the memories of his ancestor Altaïr ibn-La’Ahad via a machine called the Animus in order for Abstergo to locate “The Pieces of Eden.”

Altaïr is a master assassin that has been kicked out of his brotherhood for breaking the tenets of Assassin’s Creed. The memories that Desmond is reliving are that of Altaïr’s journey to gain back his assassin’s status by hunting down nine targets.

By the end of the game Desmond finds out that there isn’t just one Piece of Eden, but 28 that are scattered across the world.

-Assassin’s Creed II-

Same hero, new time period, and new Animus. Desmond has broken out of Abstergo with the help of some friends and has agreed to use their updated version of the Animus to explore the memories of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a French nobleman in 1476 in Florence, Republic of Florence. Desmond’s goal is to gain knowledge from Ezio in order to bring down the Templars in his own time.

-Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood-

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood was code named “Episodes.” It follows along with the Ezio Storyline. Ezio wakes up to find the city under attack by Cesare Borgia. Ezio’s uncle, Mario, is killed by Cesare who then steals the Apple of Eden. Ezio’s mission in Brotherhood is to get his revenge on Cesare and get back the Apple of Eden. Desmond ends up in a coma after everything is said and done.

A significant new feature introduced in Brotherhood is the addition of online mulitplayer. Which put you up against other assassins in an odd game of assassin tag, but instead of saying “You’re it!” you murder them…..It is incredibly hectic, yet extremely satisfying and fun.

-Assassin’s Creed Revelations-

Desmond, still in his coma has been place inside the Animus and takes the role of Ezio once again in order to piece together Altaïr and Ezio’s later memories so he may reform his own mind and come out of comatose.

So now instead of Desmond helping Altaïr and Ezio in their journey, like in previous installments, it is now the turn of Altaïr and Ezio to save Desmond’s life.

-Assassin’s Creed III-

The fifth installment in the AC series will be set in Colonial America with a half Native American half British protagonist named Connor Kenwyay (Ratonhaketon is his Native American name). The game will take place from 1753 to 1783 and will be Ubisofts largest project to date. The company has stated that the frontier in AC3 will be 1.5 times bigger than Rome from Brotherhood.

Look for Assassin’s Creed III in stores October 30th, and don’t forget to pre-order.
