Two US journalists killed in Libya

Tim Hetherington has been killed in a mortar attack in Libya today.

Hetherington, who was nominated this year for an Oscar this year for his work on a documentary about U.S. troops in Afghanistan, was reportedly killed in Misrata. ABC cites colleagues for the report.

According to various sources, Hetherington was in a group of journalists hit by mortar, including Chris Hondros, a Pulitzer Prize-nominated photographer, who one colleague reported had died via Facebook, though Vanity Fair has reported that Hondros remains in “critical condition” after the attack.

The news first surfaced on the Facebook page of Andre Liohn, a photographer and friend.
