For the first time ever, casinos in Tunica, Mississippi were forced to close their doors until the rising waters recede.
The casinos could remain closed for about three to six weeks.
Sunday at Horseshoe Casino, the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office swat team arrived with Brinks Security, armed with machine guns. They came to remove millions of dollars that was brought to Horseshoe Casino from Harrah’s when the flood waters began pouring in and everyone was forced to evacuate.
Regional President of Caesars Entertainment, Valerie Morris, said in addition to cutting off the power, other items has to be removed from Harrah’s as a safety precaution.
Horseshoe Casino officials brought in a retainer wall and sandbags to keep the flood waters out and to prevent a scene similar to the one at Harrah’s.
