The Music Industry loses another Angel. The Coshocton, Ohio born Vesta Williams, has been reportedly found dead in her LA Hotel.
Some years ago, Vesta suffered from becoming obese. At one point in her life, she reached the size of a 26, standing in at only 5-foot-3. But Vesta found a light and managed to lose over 100lbs dropping back into a size 6. Williams became an advocate for the prevention of childhood obesity and juvenile diabetes. Her biggest hit single, “Congratulations”, a story of a woman finding out her boyfriend was getting married and through the pain she found a way to still wish him the best.
During the mid 1980s to the beginning of the 1990s, Williams scored seven Top 20 hits on the US Billboard R&B chart. Her debut album Vesta in 1986 became a modest seller on the R&B Albums Chart with “Once Bitten , Twice Shy”, becoming her first Top 10 R&B hit, which also became her only UK hit.
We will Remember Vesta Williams for her single releases as:
1986 “Once Bitten, Twice Shy”,

Williams also dibbled in the movie industry in one of Mario Van Peebles master pieces, the 1993 film, Posse where she portrayed a saloon singer character Vera, as Vesta. She and jazz musician Norman Brown are accredited for the SWV hit single, “Rain”.
It has been reported she may have actually died the night before, September 22, 2011 but was pronounced dead on September 23, 2011,where she was found in a hotel room in Los Angeles. The cause of death has not yet been released.
