SPRINGFIELD, MA (WFSB) – A Springfield, Mass., basketball coach has been arrested for allegedly biting the ear off of another coach during a championship game last week.
After losing the boy’s championship basketball game Friday, assistant coach Timothy Lee Forbes, 34 of Springfield assaulted the winning team’s coach and bit off part of his ear, police said.
The championship game was played at the Holy Name School but the coach is not affiliated with the institution, police said.
Lee apparently fled the gym area before police were called. He turned himself in to Springfield police on Monday.
The bitten coach, 34, was rushed to the Baystate Emergency Room to reattach his ear and receive medical treatment.
The charges filed against Forbes include mayhem (the biting off of the ear) and assault and battery.
