A ship carrying £100million in cash to Colonel Gaddafi’s regime in Libya has been intercepted in British waters.
The cargo ship sailed from Britain and tried to dock in Tripoli at the weekend – but decided to return home as the country descends into civil war.
A Border Agency ship met the cargo vessel and escorted it to Harwich harbour, Essex, where officials found the cash in Libyan currency.
The notes were seized and taken to a secure location.
