R&B singer R. Kelly was rushed to the hospital yesterday (July 19th) and into emergency surgery, after an abscess was discovered on one of the singer’s tonsils.
A spokesperson for R. Kelly confirmed that the singer went into emergency surgery at Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital, to have the abscess drained.
R. Kelly’s publicist Alan Mayer told the Associated Press that the singer/rapper had recently complained of pain in his throat.
He was rushed to the hospital after a throat exam.
The singer will be in the hospital “indefinitely” according to Mayer.
