Profit over safety’: Father of teen killed in fall from Florida ride, lawyer speak out

(WPEC) — The teenager who fell to his death from a 430-foot drop-tower amusement park ride in Florida in March died of blunt force trauma, according to an autopsy report released last week. The report also ruled Tyre Sampson’s death was an accident.

Sampson also said he believes that if Tyre was not Black, his death would have been treated differently.

“I don’t want to use the race thing, but I believe that because my son is a Black young man, that he is getting treated like this,” said Yarnell. “I believe if it was a European child it would have been something different. There wouldn’t have been no taking down of no memorial, there wouldn’t have been no sweeping under the rug, they would have been more cooperative. I think they would have been more respectful as well.”
