(CNN) – Police said a pizza mogul attempted to sabotage his rivals by planting live mice in their restaurants.
“Apparently he’s having a problem getting started, so I guess that’s his way of putting the other guys out of business,” said Michael Chitwood, superintendent of Upper Darby Police.
Fanis Facas, owner of Verona Pizza, said his competitor, Bella Pizzeria owner Nicholas Galiatsatos, came into his restaurant and stashed a few mice into the drop ceiling.
“He goes to the bathroom, and I heard a noise going on in the bathroom,” Facas said. “I thought it was just him banging around or something, so I checked after he had walked out of the bathroom. And there were footprints on the toilet seat.”
In total, Galiatsatos is accused of planting mice in two pizza shops. He faces numerous charges, including harassment, criminal mischief and cruelty to animals.
