Disturbing behavior caught on camera led to the suspension of one Pine Bluff police detective.
KATV obtained police interrogation footage that’s being called disturbing by police chief, Kelvin Sergeant.
While this detective’s actions led to a 30-day suspension without pay, it also didn’t stop the chief from promoting Temmiothy Johnson just a year later.
Following the internal investigation, the department found that Johnson had violated its use of force policy.
It was back in March of 2018 when Javeon Shelton, 27, had been accused of stealing from a department employee. At the time, Shelton was on probation and carrying out his community service at the police department.
According to documents, Shelton stole contents of a civilian worker’s purse which included a Pine Bluff police gas card along with her personal firearm. However, just two days after that punch inside of the interrogation room, Johnson became the center of a separate investigation.
