Business Week is reporting that hazardous radiation levels found at two damaged reactors is delaying work at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi power plant, the site of the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl.
Exposure to radiation at the site was detected at the #2 unit that has the potential to cause detrimental health effects including vomiting, hair loss and diarrhea. An official with Toyko Electric Power Company has admitted to a water leak at the site.
The radiation level at the #2 reactor most recently measured at 1,000 millisieverts an hour, Japan’s nuclear safety agency has said. A single dose would cause radiation sickness, according to the World Nuclear Association.
