A fast-moving brush fire has forced the closure of all lanes of the 15 Freeway at Oak Hill Road in the Cajon Pass, burned several vehicles and prompted mandatory evacuations.
A fast-moving brush fire forced the closure of all lanes of the 15 Freeway at Oak Hill Road in the Cajon Pass, burned several vehicles and prompted mandatory evacuations Friday afternoon.
The fire was burning in the median just north of State Route 138, according to Caltrans District 8.
As of 3:45 p.m., the North Fire had rapidly grown to about 500 acres. It swept across the 15 Freeway and burned several vehicles that were trapped on the freeway.
The fire crossed El Centro Road into the Baldy Mesa area, and prompted mandatory evacuations east of Sheep Creek Road, north of the 15 Freeway, west of the 15 Freeway, and south of Phelan Road.
