New Orleans Police Investigating Two Shootings: 10 Injured, 2 Killed

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two tragic shootings in the St. Roch neighborhood that left two people dead and ten others injured.

The first incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. during the Nine Times Social Aid and Pleasure Club second-line parade in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue. Officers arrived to find eight victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All were transported to the hospital by EMS. Ballistics evidence indicates that two shooters were involved in the incident.

Approximately 45 minutes later, two additional victims were shot near the intersection of Almonaster and Florida avenues. One died at the scene, while the other succumbed to their injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to assist in the investigations by contacting the NOPD Homicide Section at 504-658-5300, NOPD Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050, or Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans anonymously at 504-822-1111 or 1-877-903-STOP.

This violence marks a somber day for New Orleans, as police work diligently to bring those responsible to justice.
