Bill Hemmer just reported that there are reports of multiple people shot outside the Empire State Building. The scene is chaotic as people make their way to work and about the heavily trafficked area. According to Fox 5 News, one person is in police custody. FDNY says that there are “several injured” in the shooting.
UPDATE, 9:38a ET: Word has just come in that two people have reportedly died as a result of the shooting. One of the deceased is believed to be the shooter. A NY police source says that they have still found no tie between the shooting and terrorism. Stay tuned for video from the scene.
UPDATE, 9:34a ET: According to Fox Business Network’s Charlie Gasparino, the shooting is preliminarily being described as a commercial shooting — not terrorism. The NYPD just reported that the male perpetrator has died following the shooting, as well. No indication as to whether or not the perpetrator’s injuries were self-inflicted.
