A 70-year-old multimillionaire car dealer has been found dead wrapped in duct tape in the $3 million Fort Lauderdale mansion he bought two weeks ago.
Police went to the home of Ronald Vinci after a 911 caller reported finding the body of the man who made his fortune with a string of successful Honda dealerships in California.
Mr Vinci had just moved to the 7000-square-foot riverside house in the affluent Florida neighbourhood with his girlfriend.
His boat ‘Captain Ron’ was docked nearby south of downtown Fort Lauderdale.
His lawyer said that he had sold his business and moved from Rancho Santa Fe to retire and spend time with his son Kerry and his grandson.
‘I know that Kerry is really upset that his son is not going to get to enjoy his grandfather,’ attorney Michael Vivoli told CBS 8.
Neighbours reported hearing screams from the house at around 2pm on Tuesday when it is believed the body was discovered.
Police have released few details about the mysterious death, but said they are treating it as suspicious.
A post-mortem will be carried out by the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
Mr Vinci purchased the large waterfront property for nearly $3 million on June 14.
The self-made millionaire started as a Honda motorcycle dealer in San Diego before building up a successful car dealership spread across southern California and Las Vegas.
