A would-be robber in Long Island should have chosen a better stick-up weapon. Michael Zimmerman was busted after attempting to rob a 7-11 convenience store using only a tree branch as his weapon.
Zimmerman demanded money from the clerk, who understandably refused to fork over any cash. The bumbling robber whacked the clerk several times with the small branch, at which point the clerk began to fight back.
Zimmerman fled the store, hopped on his motorcycle, and attempted to escape. Fortunately, an off-duty Suffolk County cop witnessed the clerk and several other men chasing the foiled bandit and blocked his escape with his car. The police officer then detained Zimmerman until his on-duty partners could arrive.
