A man who was held up at knife point was forced to hand over his pet dog after telling the thief he had no money.
Darin Carey was powerless to act as the knife wielding robber snatched his pet Shih Tzu, poodle mix.
The nine-month-old called Toby has not been seen since being grabbed during the robbery in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Carey said he was out walking with the puppy when he was approached by a man on a bicycle.
‘He said he was going to stab me unless I gave him my wallet,’ said Mr Carey.
‘I put my hand in my pocket and said, ‘I don’t have a wallet, I’m walking my dog.’ He told me to pick up the dog. I did and he wanted the dog.’
Mr. Carey said the robber bundled the 8lb dog inside his raincoat and rode off.
‘I thought I was going to get stabbed to death,’ said Mr Carey.
‘I was afraid because I had no wallet on me and I had no phone.’
In an attempt to locate his pet Mr Carey which cost $300 he put up flyers around the midtown area where he was snatched.
‘I just want him back. I want my little angel back,’ said Mr Carey.
‘People keep asking me why would someone want a dog and I actually believe that someone saw an 8-pound white and black dog and they want money,’ he said.
