A 34-year-old Florida man by the name of Jayson Laughman went ballistic on his mother’s boyfriend, 52-year-old Michael Airhart, after Airhart accused him of stealing a can of shrimp. According to the Orlando Sentinel the incident occurred in Volusia County on Saturday, September 14th around 8:30am, after the two men engaged in a “heated verbal argument” before challenging one another to go outside and fight, although the fight didn’t proceed beyond threats at that point.

Airhart then went back inside the home and proceeded to watch TV with Laughman’s mother in their bedroom, when Laughman came busting through the door with a Samurai-style sword. He threatened to hurt Airhart with the sword, but Airhart and Laughman’s mother were able to calm him down. Laughman left for a brief moment, then quickly returned and began throwing kitchen knives at Airhart. Airhart managed to escape unharmed through a sliding glass door.

Laughman told police that he “went into code red and lost his temper.” He is currently being held at Florida Fish Memorial Hospital after reporting that he was suffering from chest pains. He is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
